Advent - Review

Of all the Christmas music I have (and I have a lot), this CD is the most relaxing. All the instrumental piano selections are quietly and evenly toned which makes for a perfect reading background.

The variety of pieces is also nice, from “Away in the Manger” and “Angels we Have Heard on High,” to spirituals “Go, Tell it on the Mountain” and “Rise Up Shepherd and Follow,” and “The Wexford Carol” and “In the Bleak Midwinter.”

Originally I got this CD because it had “Rise Up Shepherd and Follow” on it. Because of the beautiful simplicity of all the pieces, it is now a top favorite of mine. Whether Christmastime or not, this will be one of my booklover’s listening CDs.

Performer and Pennsylvanian Solomon Keal is a pianist to watch for.
